Held training “Assessment of the best interest of children on the move”

Trainings “Assessment of the best interest of children on the move” is carried out within the second phase of the project Setting an agenda for Child Oriented Social Reform, and its implementation in 2014, in order to further improve policies and programs to support children on the move in the Republic of Serbia. This project has been continued by Save the Children in cooperation with national civil society organizations, NGO Atina and Group 484, and with the financial support from the European Commission.

Entirely based on the results of the first phase of the project, this initiative takes into account international standards regarding the protection of children on the move, and above all – pioneering engagement of Save the Children in this area, and the findings of the National Survey: Children on the move – position and support programs and the protection of children on the move in the Republic of Serbia. Recommendations of this analysis, for which guidelines are derived primarily from children on the move, but also from representatives of institutions and civil society organizations who work directly with children, and professional community, in the second phase of the initiative, are a starting point for improvement of the system of protection and child-friendly services, bearing in mind the specificity and complexity of the position of children on the move in Serbia.

The aim was to encourage creation of a sustainable system for the organization of interventions and programs to protect children on the move in the phase of continuous collection of data relating to the identification of the exact position of children in the process of protection, their strengths, and the risks they are exposed to. Participants of training were representatives of institutions and civil society organizations working directly with children.
